Cell Phone Directory a Reality

Remember not long ago when there was rumor of a cell phone directory that was going to be made public? You probably received one of the chainmails about it. It proved to be false at the time. However Intellus, the company that does background checks for a fee, now has a list of over 90 million cell phone numbers linked to names and addresses in there system and plan on adding another 70 million in the up and coming days. They are accessing/buying information from companies, so if you have used your cell phone as a contact number, which is not only common for people to offer up, but companies even ask for it sometimes, then your cell phone could be on the list. It is only a matter of time before these lists fall into telemarketers hands.

What is worse, is they are making all available with no limits. One person found that his 14 year old son was on the list of available numbers.

Intellus claims to be doing this so people can check out the history of say a nanny you want to hire. Well how about the pediaphile that wants to know more about your child. Or the kidnapper etc…

It appears there are no laws against this from happening at this time.

Everyone needs to contact there Senators, Representatives, state officials, local officials and start pushing for legislation that will limit at least the listing of children if not other listings.

Home phone numbers have been available to the public for a long time, so many Americans treasure the fact that their cell numbers can be kept private — or so they think. Now, all it takes is a few bucks and Internet access to find tens of millions of personal cell phone numbers.

A Web site named Intelius has created a clearinghouse of cell phone numbers that can be purchased online for $15 each. Its source — every business and company you’ve ever provided with your personal information.

“We do pay for the data, everything from government agencies to third party companies, where we compile a lot of this information together,” said Ed Peterson, vice president of sales and marketing at Intelius.

Intelius already has 90 million cell phone numbers, and it’s adding 70 million more in the coming days, along with the addresses that go with them.

“Frankly, it’s the Wild West when it comes to our personal information,” said Avivah Litan, director of research at Gartner Inc.

Intelius claims it is providing a public service that will help parents track down who is calling their children, or families checking on a nanny, but many individuals are upset that their information can be bought online.

ABC’s David Muir attempted to buy the records of three people he approached today in New York City, and they were shocked to learn he’d purchased every cell phone number and address they ever had.

Intelius even had the number of a minor.

“That’s my son … he’s 14,” said Winsome Jones.

“You can’t even assume that minors have privacy rights. Maybe this is a wake-up call once we see congressmen’s cell phone numbers on the Internet. Maybe they’ll finally start acting, but the data brokers are not regulated,” Lihtan said. “No one’s looking over their shoulder and saying you can or cannot do this.”

And until Congress takes action, Intelius’ business of selling personal information is perfectly legal.

Gore Invented Global Warming in 1922

As a follow up to the Michelle Maklin’s  Hot News and my own Al Gore Sequel: A Convenient Lie …

Another nail in the Al Gore Global Warming Coffin. The Washington Post reports that a John Lockwood, a Washington DC resident has discovered an article in the Library of Congress that shows that in 1922 Global Warming and the Melting of the Ice Caps was already happening.

This comes back to back with the NASAY2K glitch in the programing and the recent addition of natural weather patterns to the model.

This is starting to look like natural phenomenon is the cause, not humans. But wait I will bet that the Liberals and Gore will spin it that we have increased the speed or made it worse, or that because of humans, the Earth cannot correct itself…

 D.C. resident John Lockwood was conducting research at the Library of Congress and came across an intriguing Page 2 headline in the Nov. 2, 1922 edition of The Washington Post: “Arctic Ocean Getting Warm; Seals Vanish and Icebergs Melt.”

The 1922 article, obtained by Inside the Beltway, goes on to mention “great masses of ice have now been replaced by moraines of earth and stones,” and “at many points well-known glaciers have entirely disappeared.”

“This was one of several such articles I have found at the Library of Congress for the 1920s and 1930s,” says Mr. Lockwood. “I had read of the just-released NASA estimates, that four of the 10 hottest years in the U.S. were actually in the 1930s, with 1934 the hottest of all.”

Europe has been struggling with the effectiveness of becoming green. The cost of alone is hurting the EU and then there are the situations where power plants have to go off line to meet green requirements. Now they are reconsidering the value of following this dangerous path.

Reacting yesterday to word that certain European governments and officials are suddenly trying to abandon their costly “global warming” policies, Royal Astronomical Society fellow Benny Peiser, of the science faculty at Liverpool John Moores University in Great Britain, recalls the teachings of Marcus Aurelius: “The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.”

The Architect of the Capitol estimates that by having installed energy-efficient comfort-control systems and lighting, including occupancy sensors that automatically turn off lights when they are not needed, they are saving American taxpayers more than $2.2 million per year.

And how much was invested to go green? How long will it take to make it a true savings for each family? How many are getting rich of off this scheme? I installed energy efficient light bulbs in my house 2.5 years ago and the cost versus how much I have saved is still in favor of cost. I think maybe in another 3-4 years I will break even, which will be about the time I have to replace my long life energy efficient bulbs. As for my central AC, if I replaced it now, for an average cost of $10,000, how long will it take until I save that much in my electric bill. I pay about $200-250 /month during the summer, that includes my lights, TV, home entertainment devices, electric stove, water heater, refrigerator two computers running 24/7, 3 clocks, washer/dryer and Central AC. During the winter I pay 250-350 with the same. During the fal and spring it drops to about $100. So if I save 50-100 per year by upgrading my Central AC, it should only take me 10-20 years to break even. Hey time to buy a new AC unit. I think I will stick with my non-energy efficient system until it breaks down.

Al Qaeda & Taliban on the Move in Pakistan

Bill Roggio of the Fourth Rail reports that all but one Al Qaeda and Taliban camps in northern Pakistan are empty. There is concern over where they are, what they are planning and who is on the move as officials consider these terrorists seasoned and dangerous.

Mr. Shahzad reported there were 29 al Qaeda and Taliban camps in North and South Waziristan, and all but one “have been dismantled, apart from one run by hardline Islamist Mullah Abdul Khaliq.” [Note: on October 4, 2006, The Fourth Rail reported “there are over 20 al Qaeda and Taliban run training camps currently in operation in North and South Waziristan.”] While The Fourth Rail sources verify the camps’ existence, they noted the camps have not been dismantled and the infrastructure is still in place. “The physical infrastructure (camps and the like) still exist, they haven’t been dismantled. They’ve just been abandoned or are being operated by skeleton crews,” the senior military intelligence source said, while noting “the Khaliq camp is only churning out Taliban, not al Qaeda.”

The al Qaeda and Taliban personnel abandoned the 28 camps after “the US had presented Islamabad with a dossier detailing the location of the bases as advance information on likely US targets,” Mr. Shahzad reported. “All other leading Taliban commanders, including Sirajuddin Haqqani, Gul Bahadur, Baitullah Mehsud and Haji Omar, have disappeared,” said Mr. Shahzad.

“Similarly, the top echelons of the Arab community that was holed up in North Waziristan has also gone,” reported Mr. Shahzad. Pakistan’s military and intelligence agencies are believed to have leaked information to the Taliban and al Qaeda in the past, and appears to have done so again.

The emptying of the camps is a cause for great concern in the military and intelligence communities. “We don’t know where they went to or who was in the camps,” the military officer told The Fourth Rail. “They are well trained, these aren’t your entry level jihadis. They are dangerous.”

“This is one of the reasons that we are worried about a major CONUS [Continental United States] attack,” the senior military intelligence source told The Fourth Rail, noting the recent influx of news of terror cells attempting to penetrate the US. “If they evacuated their bases, they almost certainly did so out of fear of more than just the Pakistani army.”

There is also concern amongst US officials, because a successful coupe on the part of the Taliban or Al Qaeda against President Musharraf would put Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal in terrorists hands.

As the security situation in the Northwest Frontier Province continues to deteriorate and President Pervez Musharraf’s political stock continues to drop, the US military intelligence community is “urgently assessing how secure Pakistan’s nuclear weapons would be in the event President Gen. Pervez Musharraf were replaced.” Meanwhile, the Taliban and al Qaeda have dispersed operatives from the training camps in the Northwest Frontier Province and are preparing to fight on their own terms.

With the Pakistani government facing a robust Taliban insurgency in the Northwest Frontier Province, a significant al Qaeda presence inside the country and a violent cadre of homegrown Islamist extremists, the security of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal has taken on an elevated importance. The US intelligence community believes it has a handle on the location of Pakistan’s nuclear warhead, but there are questions over who controls the launch codes in the event of Musharraf’s passing.

The US is also looking past the issue of the security of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal. The loyalty of the conventional Pakistani military to President Musharraf is in question, according to CNN. “Musharraf controls the loyalty of the commanders and senior officials in charge of the nuclear program, but those loyalties could shift at any point,” CNN reported on August 10. “There is also a growing understanding according to the U.S. analysis that Musharraf’s control over the military remains limited to certain top commanders and units, raising worries about whether he can maintain control over the long term.”

Congress Democrats Take Presidential Veto Powers

Atlas Shrugs reports how the Democrats unconstitutionaly took Veto Powers into their own hands, when they lost a vote on the House floor.

The House voted 215 to 213 to deny housing and employment to illegal immigrants on the annual agriculture spending bill.  The votes were counted, but the Speaker closed the vote with his gavel.  The Democrats then unilaterally and imperially overturned this result—defying 218 years of precedent.  The Speaker reopened the vote to ensure that the motion was then defeated by a vote of 212 to 216, disenfranchising the American people and paving the way for illegal immigrants to receive federal housing and employment benefits.Earlier this week, the Democrats voted to take billions from the Medicare Trust Fund, force millions of seniors off of Medicare Advantage, and tax every private health insurance plan in the nation, because they were determined to provide Medicaid to illegal immigrants.  They did this by overturning a law, originally passed by Republicans, requiring individuals to prove their citizenship before receiving federal Medicaid benefits

 

If this is what Senator Clinton means by Progresive Democrat, I think I would rather have the Liberal Democrat back…

I just want to know how to become an illegal alien so I can get these kind of benefits.

DC CLOSES AT LEAST TWO GREEN LINE METRO STATIONS

ABC News is reporting metro stations in DC are down due to man spraying unknown substance and finding dead birds.

Update:

ABC news is reporting that HazMat crews are on scene at Greenbelt and Takoma stations. An unknown substance was spraye at the stations, authorities are trying to determine the substance.  20 dead birds found at Greenbelt and 3 more found at Takoma.

Authorities are searching for a man in a black pickup truck who was seen spraying an unknown substance.

Update 2:

At Greenbelt station substance has confirmed to be rat poison. Most of it was washed away by the rain. Officials believe the substance at the other three stations also rat poison. (Takoma, Naylor Road and Anacostia)
