Obama and Congress are demanding no bonuses for Wall Street…. Well no BONUSES or WAGYU steak ($125 Per Steak!!!!) for Politicians…

Turn up the heat… in the White House that is… The rest of American must turn down their thermostats to save the environment…

All this in celebration of the Pork Package that made it through the House… Well I guess they wanted to make sure their celebration was Kosher and pork free, unlike their stimulus package…

This man is a contradiction of everything Americans voted for… The sad thing is the liberals that voted him in do not see it yet…

So I listened today as Barack Obama scolded Wall Street executives for their bonuses last year, and while I was listening to him I couldn’t stop thinking about the swank dinner party that Obama threw last night celebrating the house passing his massive spending bill.

While Obama is scolding executives for their spending, there seems to be no limit to what he is willing to spend. First, if you haven’t heard, he has brought his “private chef” from Chicago to the White House. That’s right, Obama had a private chef before he was president, doesn’t everybody? The old White House chef will also stay so we will be paying them both to feed Obama and his family.

This just after the most expensive inaugural event in our nations history, just after his exclusive Hawaii vacation.

Anyway, back to last night, he invited a bunch of congressmen and senators to dinner to celebrate his new “pork” bill passing the house, which started with alcoholic beverages for everybody and included “wagyu steak” on the menu. I know, I know, what’s wagyu steak your probably wondering? Look it up! It’s meat that cost $125 per pound, and don’t rush out to the grocery store to buy some because it’s something reserved for only the upper crust of society, and our politicians since they eat on our tax dollar. This is change we can depend on for sure!

Don’t even get me started on the spending bill that passed and created this celebration. My advise is take a look at the details for yourself. There is more pork in this thing than there is in the Jimmy Dean sausage factory! Creating jobs they say…..yeah right! It’s more like political paybacks and buying votes! I feel sure your great grandchildren won’t mind paying for all of this, since they are the ones that will pay.

So don’t forget to turn your thermostat down tonight, Obama has called on us all to make sacrifices…remember?

In the mean time, he will continue to sacrifice as much of our tax dollars as he possibly can while in office, dancing around and shouting, “Yes We Can!”

HOPE/CHANGE!!! Obama And FEMA Leave Americans To Die In Kentucky

Kentucky’s Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear declared a state of emergency on January 27th.

Obama, on his website, scolded the Bush administration for poor response to Hurricane Katrina. Where is he now? Where is the MSM?

I suppose hopey/changey administration is too busy pushing the stimulus pkg to worry about Americans freezing to death in Kentucky.

Local officials were growing angry with what they said was a lack of help from the state and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. In Grayson County, about 80 miles southwest of Louisville, Emergency Management Director Randell Smith said the 25 National Guardsmen who have responded have no chain saws to clear fallen trees.

“We’ve got people out in some areas we haven’t even visited yet,” Smith said. “We don’t even know that they’re alive.”

Smith said FEMA has been a no-show so far.

“I’m not saying we can’t handle it; we’ll handle it,” Smith said. “But it would have made life a lot easier” if FEMA had reached the county sooner, he said.

This is on top of the recent raise (current salary is (169,000) they got because they would not vote against giving themselves a raise when we are facing the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression… I think we should put a cap on salaries and expenses for all of Congress, may determine what average middle class American makes and set that as Congress’ cap…

$220,000 Conflict of Interest For Daschle

More problems for Daschle… On the heels of tax invasion, yes I know he paid up afterwards… Just like Geithner so it is ok according to the liberal double standard and above the law tactics overtaking our country. This one they cannot overlook, but then again the liberals will do what they want and the Republicans have yet to do anything but bend over on Obama’s nominations…

Tom Daschle, the former South Dakota senator picked by President Obama to reside over the nation’s healthcare system, received $220,000 in speaking fees from health care groups with an interest in the work he would do once confirmed as health chief, Politico.com reports.

Daschle, who has come under fire in recent days for his failure to pay taxes, reportedly received thousands from health care groups — such as the Health Industry Distributors Association — that stand to gain or lose depending on the outcome of Obama’s universal health care initiative.  

The Health Industry Associated paid Dashle a speaking fee of $14,000 in March 2008, according to Politico.com.  

The speaking fees were detailed in a financial disclosure statement released Friday after it was revealed that Daschle — Obama’s nominee to head the Department of Health and Human Services — failed to pay $128,203 in back taxes and $11,964 in interest.

The White House acknowledged Friday that Daschle had “some tax issues,” which, the administration says, have been resolved and should not bar his confirmation as secretary.

FOX News confirmed that Daschle alerted the Senate Finance Committee, which is set to oversee his confirmation hearing, that the matter involves more than $100,000 in back taxes and interest for a car and driver that was provided to him for four years by Leo Hindery, a wealthy Democratic donor, longtime friend and business associate of Daschle.

Daschle incorrectly assumed the use of the car and driver was not subject to taxation. But the White House says he discovered the error during preparation for his confirmation and filed amended tax returns with the proper payment and interest.

The unreported income for the car service totaled more than $250,000 over three years.

Hindery founded InterMedia Partners, a private equity firm, in 1988. Daschle was paid $1 million annually for his consulting services, the Senate Finance Committee said.

Daschle also had unreported consulting income of $88,333, in 2007. He also had reductions to charitable contributions totaling about $15,000 over the three years covered, according to a Senate Finance Committee document. The document, marked “Confidential Draft,” is a committee statement concerning Daschle’s nomination.

The White House issued a statement Friday night affirming that Daschle “is the right person to lead the fight for health care reform.”

“Senator Daschle brought these issues to the Finance Committee’s attention when he submitted his nomination forms and we are confident the committee is going to schedule a hearing for him very soon, and he will be confirmed,” it says.

Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., the committee’s chairman, has scheduled a closed-door meeting with committee members to discuss the matter before proceeding with Daschle’s confirmation hearing.

The news comes on the heals of an uproar over the tax troubles of another one of Obama’s Cabinet nominees. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner was confirmed this week after apologizing for failing to pay $34,000 in taxes on time, an error that he said was a “careless” mistake.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s office released a statement Friday strongly backed Daschle despite the new revelations.

“Senator Daschle will be confirmed as Secretary of Health and Human Services,” Reid spokesman Jim Manley said. “He has a long and distinguished career and record in public service and is the best person to help reform health care in this country. Senator Reid looks forward to a swift hearing and is confident Daschle will be confirmed.”

A spokeswoman for Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, the ranking Republican on the Finance Committee, issued a statement Friday acknowledging that the committee’s vetting process had turned up the tax violations, though she did not say whether Grassley had taken a stance yet on the matter.

Obama’s WebAdmins Blocks Robots

Guess Obama is having second thoughts on transparency… Now there are two issues here… The first is the lack of accountability of information being changed. The second is making the information searchable… These pages are now being blocked from being cataloged, thus making it harder for people to find information. If Obama does not want stuff searchable or cached it should not be on the White House website to begin with. This sounds more like the administration not wanting to get called out on issues and the public having access to proof that it was posted on the Internet…

Remember way back when? You know, somewhere around January 21 or so when all the Dems were talking a good game about having transparency in government and none was a bigger spokesperson for this then The One, The Messiah, Mr HopeandChange himself, Barack Obama.

Well, just like everything else he has said or promised to reassure those who might be skeptical of him and his socialists leanings, he has also started to backtrack on this pie in the sky talk.

The White House has silently tripled the number of Web pages that it forbids Google and other search engines from accessing.

Can’t have those nasty searches of the White House web sites now, can we? There has already been so many instances of the Obama cult scrubbing websites when embarrassing items are discovered or things disappearing when his actions don’t meet his words, so this shouldn’t be that big a surprise to those who have been chronicling these acts.

Those bloggers drunk on hope who desperately wanted to see proof of Obama’s commitment to his campaign promises of transparency and Google Government now find themselves with a difficult choice: they can either accept and acknowledge that robots.txt files are not a set of digital tea leaves through which you can read the new administration, or, if robots.txt does carry weight, they can try to come up with a way of explaining a 200 percent increase in the number of directories blocked by Obama’s Web team as anything but Cheney-esque secrecy.

I wonder how much his good buddies from Google are helping them in crafting these robot blocking files?

Bye Bye Blagojevich

The Illinois Senate voted to remove Gov. Rod Blagojevich from office Thursday, marking the first time in the state’s long history of political corruption that a chief executive has been impeached and convicted.

The 59-0 vote followed several hours of public deliberation in which senator after senator stood up to blast Blagojevich, whose tenure lasted six years. And it came after a four-day impeachment trial on allegations that Blagojevich abused his power and sold his office for personal and political benefit.

The conviction on a sweeping article of impeachment means the governor was immediately removed from office. The Senate also unanimously voted to impose the “political death penalty” on Blagojevich, banning him from ever again holding office in Illinois.

Lt. Gov. Patrick Quinn, Blagojevich’s two-time running mate, has become the state’s 41st governor.

WASHINGTON (AP) – The $800 billion-plus economic stimulus measure making its way through Congress could steer government checks to illegal immigrants, a top Republican congressional official asserted Thursday.

The legislation, which would send tax credits of $500 per worker and $1,000 per couple, expressly disqualifies nonresident aliens, but it would allow people who don’t have Social Security numbers to be eligible for the checks.

Undocumented immigrants who are not eligible for a Social Security number can file tax returns with an alternative number. A House-passed version of the economic recovery bill and one making its way through the Senate would allow anyone with such a number, called an individual taxpayer identification number, to qualify for the tax credits.

A revolt among GOP conservatives to similar provisions of a 2008 economic stimulus bill, which sent rebate checks to most wage earners, forced Democratic congressional leaders to add stricter eligibility requirements. That legislation, enacted in February 2008, required that people have valid Social Security numbers in order to get checks.

The GOP official voiced concerns about the latest economic aid measure on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss it publicly.

Republicans have already blasted the package for including what they argue is wasteful spending and omitting tax cuts for wealthier people and businesses they say are needed to jump-start the anemic economy.

Not a single Republican voted for an $819 billion version of the plan when it passed the House on Wednesday.

GOP senators arranged a midday news conference to voice their concerns.

Wasn’t this supposed to be the start of an era of competence and freedom from conflicts of interest in government?  After appointing lobbyists William Lynn and Mark Patterson to positions that they would have lobbied prior to their appointments, Obama has named a financial-service executive that applied for a bailout to be his deputy counsel on economic affairs:

President Barack Obama on Wednesday named a politically connected top executive of a financial services company that’s seeking federal bailout money to be his chief legal counsel on the economy, a move raising ethical concerns with watchdog organizations and casting a shadow on Obama’s campaign theme of change.

In a statement on Wednesday morning, Obama said he appointed Neal Wolin, division president of The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., to become his deputy White House counsel for economic affairs. That makes Wolin the top legal adviser on economic issues.

The Hartford in mid-November purchased a Sanford, Fla., thrift — Federal Trust Bank — a move that allowed it to seek as much as $3.4 billion in Wall Street bailout money. On Nov. 14, it applied to become a thrift holding company entitled to between $1.1 billion and $3.4 billion in funds under the much-maligned Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP.

Patterson also worked for a bailed-out firm, the massively politically connected Goldman Sachs.  Now we get another executive from a politically-connected firm, and not even one that’s successful.  If we had to bail out Goldman Sachs and Hartford, it doesn’t exactly speak well of their economic acumen.  Why do we keep picking people from firms that couldn’t stand on their own?

Obama has started to worry some of the Hopier-and-Changier crowd with his serial violations of his own ethics rules.  This makes the third questionable appointment in nine days, transforming Obama’s violations of at least the spirit of his own ethics rules a pattern and not exceptions.  It’s not just the bailout, either.  Hartford also has lobbied on insurance regulation policy, pushing hard against the federal control that Obama promised in his campaign. CREW and other watchdogs have become restless, and it’s only the second week of the new administration.

Obama’s ethics policy would require Wolin to recuse himself on both the bailout and on insurance regulation, which makes people wonder what exactly Wolin would do as economic counsel.  Clip coupons?  Appointing Wolin, Patterson, and Lynn makes a mockery out of Obama’s vaunted ethics “reforms”, and also of his pledge to find the best and brightest to serve in Washington.

Hamas Breaks Cease Fire With Roadside Bomb Attack – Israel Resumes Bombing Tunnels

Hopefully Israel will finish the job this time. It is time to take Hamas out, until Hamas is gone there is no chance for peace. 

An Israel Defense Forces spokesman said the air strike came in response to a remote-control bomb attack at the Gaza Strip security fence Tuesday, which killed an Israel Defense Forces tracker and wounded three other soldiers, one seriously.

The border blast was the Palestinians’ first deadly attack since the cease-fire ended Operation Cast Lead, and came the day before the arrival of George Mitchell, the U.S. envoy to the Middle East. 

Earlier on Tuesday, IAF aircraft fired a missile at a militant on a motorbike in the Khan Yunis area of Gaza. The Shin Bet security service, which helped coordinate the missile strike, said the militant, Hussein Abu-Shamaya, was involved in the bomb attack. The bomb was planted by a Hamas breakaway group identified with the Al-Qaida-affiliated Global Jihad, the Shin Bet said. 

In addition, a Palestinian man, apparently a farmer, was killed in exchanges of fire between IDF troops and Palestinians in Gaza after the bomb was detonated, according to Palestinian reports. The incident took place while IDF tanks and soldiers, assisted by helicopters, were patrolling Gaza after the attack. 

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert warned of a “further response” to the attack. 

“What the IDF did today was not a response but a preliminary action,” he said at a meeting of ministry directors general. “A further response to this serious incident will be forthcoming.” 

The security cabinet is to meet Wednesday to discuss security projects, but the situation in Gaza might also be discussed. 

Olmert, noting that he had termed the cease-fire “fragile,” also said: “We don’t even call it a cease-fire but a holding of fire in the face of Hamas infractions, so that we can retain the IDF’s freedom of action.” 

Defense Minister Ehud Barak decided to strike Hamas targets in response to the death of the tracker. 

“We do not intend to gloss over incidents like these,” Barak said. “We will not let Hamas and its outgrowths continue their hostile acts of terror. Anyone who hits us will have to absorb a serious blow in the future, too.” 

Sources in the Prime Minister’s Bureau said Tuesday Israel was not negotiating with Hamas over a cease-fire or second lull. “The Egyptians are speaking to Hamas to attain things that are important for them, but we are not obligated to anything. We have not signed understandings or an agreement with Hamas,” a source in Olmert’s bureau said. 

Israel and Egypt are apparently formulating an understanding on the passage of merchandise from Israel to the Gaza Strip, and at the same time some increased freedom of movement in the opening of the Rafah crossing from the Strip to Egypt. 

The Kerem Shalom and Karni crossings on the Gaza border were closed after the attack. Approximately 185 trucks carrying aid and equipment were to have crossed into Gaza yesterday. 

The bomb near the Gaza border detonated around 8 A.M., as an IDF patrol was passing near the Kissufim crossing, north of Kibbutz Kissufim. The tracker was killed and an officer was seriously hurt. One of his legs was amputated and the other one is severely damaged. Two other soldiers were classified as lightly hurt and will be released in a few days. Soroka Medical Center said they had extensive shrapnel wounds. 

The name of the tracker, a Bedouin, was not released, at the request of his family. 

A preliminary investigation revealed that the soldiers were patrolling an area that had not been patrolled for several weeks due to the fighting in the Strip. The regional brigade commander was apparently not apprised of the patrol, which was approved by the battalion commander. IDF sources said the Palestinians who planted the bomb did so Monday night, under cover of heavy fog. 

The closure of the Gaza crossings is only the first stage of Israel’s response to the attack, Amos Gilad, who heads the Defense Ministry’s political bureau, said yesterday. “The equation in the Strip has changed,” he said during a lecture at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv.
