Hamas Breaks Cease Fire With Roadside Bomb Attack – Israel Resumes Bombing Tunnels

Hopefully Israel will finish the job this time. It is time to take Hamas out, until Hamas is gone there is no chance for peace.

An Israel Defense Forces spokesman said the air strike came in response to a remote-control bomb attack at the Gaza Strip security fence Tuesday, which killed an Israel Defense Forces tracker and wounded three other soldiers, one seriously.

The border blast was the Palestinians’ first deadly attack since the cease-fire ended Operation Cast Lead, and came the day before the arrival of George Mitchell, the U.S. envoy to the Middle East.

Earlier on Tuesday, IAF aircraft fired a missile at a militant on a motorbike in the Khan Yunis area of Gaza. The Shin Bet security service, which helped coordinate the missile strike, said the militant, Hussein Abu-Shamaya, was involved in the bomb attack. The bomb was planted by a Hamas breakaway group identified with the Al-Qaida-affiliated Global Jihad, the Shin Bet said.

In addition, a Palestinian man, apparently a farmer, was killed in exchanges of fire between IDF troops and Palestinians in Gaza after the bomb was detonated, according to Palestinian reports. The incident took place while IDF tanks and soldiers, assisted by helicopters, were patrolling Gaza after the attack.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert warned of a “further response” to the attack.

“What the IDF did today was not a response but a preliminary action,” he said at a meeting of ministry directors general. “A further response to this serious incident will be forthcoming.”

The security cabinet is to meet Wednesday to discuss security projects, but the situation in Gaza might also be discussed.

Olmert, noting that he had termed the cease-fire “fragile,” also said: “We don’t even call it a cease-fire but a holding of fire in the face of Hamas infractions, so that we can retain the IDF’s freedom of action.”

Defense Minister Ehud Barak decided to strike Hamas targets in response to the death of the tracker.

“We do not intend to gloss over incidents like these,” Barak said. “We will not let Hamas and its outgrowths continue their hostile acts of terror. Anyone who hits us will have to absorb a serious blow in the future, too.”

Sources in the Prime Minister’s Bureau said Tuesday Israel was not negotiating with Hamas over a cease-fire or second lull. “The Egyptians are speaking to Hamas to attain things that are important for them, but we are not obligated to anything. We have not signed understandings or an agreement with Hamas,” a source in Olmert’s bureau said.

Israel and Egypt are apparently formulating an understanding on the passage of merchandise from Israel to the Gaza Strip, and at the same time some increased freedom of movement in the opening of the Rafah crossing from the Strip to Egypt.

The Kerem Shalom and Karni crossings on the Gaza border were closed after the attack. Approximately 185 trucks carrying aid and equipment were to have crossed into Gaza yesterday.

The bomb near the Gaza border detonated around 8 A.M., as an IDF patrol was passing near the Kissufim crossing, north of Kibbutz Kissufim. The tracker was killed and an officer was seriously hurt. One of his legs was amputated and the other one is severely damaged. Two other soldiers were classified as lightly hurt and will be released in a few days. Soroka Medical Center said they had extensive shrapnel wounds.

The name of the tracker, a Bedouin, was not released, at the request of his family

A preliminary investigation revealed that the soldiers were patrolling an area that had not been patrolled for several weeks due to the fighting in the Strip. The regional brigade commander was apparently not apprised of the patrol, which was approved by the battalion commander. IDF sources said the Palestinians who planted the bomb did so Monday night, under cover of heavy fog.

The closure of the Gaza crossings is only the first stage of Israel’s response to the attack, Amos Gilad, who heads the Defense Ministry’s political bureau, said yesterday. “The equation in the Strip has changed,” he said during a lecture at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv.

Obama Lays Ground Work For Direct Negotiations With Iran

Direct diplomacy without preconditions I am sure… Just wait and see. Pretty soon we will be bending over for these asshats while they builds some nukes… Remember what happened with N. Korea under the Clinton administration…

Change You Can Believe In!

President Obama did a quick pivot Monday, shifting his focus to foreign policy by contacting a handful of major world leaders — including Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and French President Nikolas Sarkozy — as his new U.N. ambassador restated the desire for vigorous and “direct diplomacy” with Iran.

Obama spoke with the foreign leaders ahead of a meeting with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and his Middle East envoy George Mitchell, who was leaving immediately afterward for a trip to the region. Mitchell will go to Cairo, Egypt; Jersusalem, Israel; Ramallah in the West Bank; Amman, Jordan; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He will also visit Paris and London.

Back in the U.S., U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, who was confirmed last week for the post, said Monday that Iran’s refusal to meet international obligations will increase pressure on Tehran to drop its nuclear ambitions and cooperate with the United States and global community.

Besides pursuing nuclear weapons, Iran has called for the destruction of Israel and support for Hamas, a terror group designated by the U.S., Israel and the European Union.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Rice’s remarks are not a departure from statements made previously by Obama the candidate. She merely restated the administration position that no forms of communication should be off the table with the Islamic regime.

“Whether you were on the campaign trail or not, clearly this was something that generated a lot of coverage over the past two years. And I think Ambassador Rice was simply restating the position that the president had,” he said.

Gibbs did not offer any specific initiatives on dealing with Iran, but said Rice’s remarks should come as no surprise.

“This administration is going to use all elements of our national power to address concerns” about Iran’s nuclear program.

As for the Mitchell trip, Gibbs said Mitchell was ahead overseas “to begin the process that the president promised to be actively engaged in, the peace process there in the Middle East.”

State Department Spokesman Robert A. Wood said the purpose of the trip is to consult with regional leaders on a range of issues, including trying to contain smuggling into Gaza to prevent the rearming of Hamas, the Islamist movement that rules Gaza. He said Mitchell will not meet with any Hamas leaders.

Hamas Attacks Fuel Terminal – Will Protest Israel/Egyptian Blockade

Hamas, you know th guys Jimmy Carter is going to go and have tea with, attacka fuel terminal on the Israeli/Gaza border. This fuel terminal supplies Gaza.

Now, Hamas is planning a protest today against the Israel/Egyption blockades and is planning on braking down the border between Egypt and Gaza. This really says alot about Hamas.

Egypt is threatening Hamas if they do try to do this. Now what is great is it is Egypt who should be providing goods, fuel and electricity to Gaza, but nobody says anything about their partition of the Gaza Strip.

DEBKAfile’s military sources report that, following the Palestinian attack on the Israel-Gaza border fuel terminal that supplies its own population, Hamas plans a mass protest Thursday, April 10 against the “Israeli and Egyptian blockade” of the Gaza Strip. Our sources report that a tough Egyptian message put Hamas off its plan for another attempt to smash through the Gaza border to Egyptian Sinai. Cairo warned that this time, any Palestinians forcing their way through would be “shot down like rats.” To drive the message home, convoys of Egyptian truck with visible firing positions and open crates of ammo have been rolling up and down the Gaza border past the new wall they have built the length of the Philadelphi border strip.

Thursday, Egyptian security forces drawn from Cairo and Ismailia were still massing on the Sinai side of Rafah, after Hamas leader Khalil al-Haya announced that the next Palestinian breakthrough to Sinai would be broader and extend to all of Gaza’s borders. (Its only other one is with Israel)

Israel in contrast did nothing to make good on defense minister Ehud Barak’s threat to “make Hamas pay” for the rising violence against civilians emanating from the territory it governs. It is widely predicted that Israel will carry on shipping fuel to Gaza through the Nahal Oz terminal where Wednesday, April 9. Palestinian gunmen murdered two Israeli energy company workers employed in keeping this lifeline open for the Gaza population.

Egyptian Ambulances Smuggle Terrorists Into Gaza

This is the reason Israel closes the borders and restricts aid going into Gaza… But as usual the liberal media will spin this into Israel is the cause of the problem…

Note that these terrorists were being trained in Syria and Iran, not that it is a surprise, however it is important to note the real source of terrorism.

Sunday, March 2, Egypt re-opened Gaza’s Rafah crossing for the first time since Hamas blew up the border wall on Jan. 23 for ambulances to collect some 150 wounded Palestinians.

DEBKAfile’s military sources disclose that 27 ambulances also brought in 15-20 Hamas commando fighters, part of the of the 120-strong group rounded up in Sinai and detained on their return from advanced courses in Iran and Syria. They were permitted to cross back into Gaza with a quantity of weapons and ammunition.

Israel military sources are watching to see if the incoming ambulances are also carrying shoulder-borne anti-air missiles for shooting down Israeli helicopters and drones, which Hamas has been pressing Egypt to allow them to bring in. So far Cairo has resisted this demand but may have now relented. These sources describe the returning Hamas fighters as highly trained for guerilla warfare against conventional armies and therefore a valuable increment for Hamas’ war against Israel.

Our sources also confirm that the incoming group of trained fighters is not the first Cairo waved through the Rafah terminal. Last week, as fighting flared between Israel and Hamas, 17 were admitted to reinforce embattled Hamas. Israel officials imposed a blackout on this incident, reluctant to show the public the two-faced nature of Cairo’s policy of lenience for Hamas behind the mask of cooperation with Israel’s war on terror. The Olmert government also feared the exposure of the real state of affairs on the Gaza-Egyptian frontier notwithstanding its under-the-counter tacit acceptance of the buildup of Egyptian frontier troops to 1,500 in breach of the 1982 peace treaty.

Prime minister Olmert prefers to avoid any disclosures that might embarrass Cairo ahead of Condoleezza Rice’s visits to Israel, Ramallah and Egypt, starting Tuesday, March 4. According to our Washington sources, she will rap Palestinian knuckles for Hamas’ missile blitz, but at the same time tighten the screw on Israel to lift its siege of Gaza and reopen the border crossings. (Food and other convoys have never really stopped crossing into Gaza even under fire.)

The Mubarak government therefore is not afraid to reopen the supposedly closed Rafah terminal from time to time whenever Hamas demands essential items to fuel its ongoing war on Israel.

Hamas Worked On Destruction Of Egyptian Border Wall For Months

It turns out that the fall of the wall that separates Gaza from Egypt was not an overnight development in response to the Israeli blockade, but rather a long running plot to open the border with Egypt. What the liberal media is missing here is that Hamas was not doing this for humanitarian aid but rather for having the ability to move arms freely.

As tens of thousands of Palestinians clambered back and forth between the Gaza strip and Egypt today, details emerged of the audacious operation that brought down a hated border wall and handed the Islamist group Hamas what might be its greatest propaganda coup.

Hamas, which took control of the coastal territory last June after a stand-off with Fatah, has denied that its men set off the explosions that brought down as much as two-thirds of the 12-km wall in the early hours.

But a Hamas border guard interviewed by The Times at the border admitted that the Islamist group was responsible and had been involved for months in slicing through the heavy metal wall using oxy-acetylene cutting torches.

That meant that when the explosive charges were set off in 17 different locations between midnight and 1am the 40ft wall came tumbling down, leaving it lying like a broken concertina down the middle of no-man’s land as an estimated 350,000 Gazans flooded into Egypt.

The guard, Lieutenant Abu Usama of the Palestinian National Security, said of the cutting operation: “I’ve seen this happening over the last few months. It happened in the daytime but was covered up so that nobody would see.”

Asked whether he had reported it to the government, he replied: “It was the government that was doing this. Who would I report it to?”

Abu Usama, who normally works from a small guard cabin in no-man’s land, added: “Last night we were told to keep away from the wall. We were ordered to stay away because they were going to break the blockade.”

As Gazans flooded into Egypt, the strip’s Hamas prime minister, Ismail Haniya, called for an urgent meeting with his rivals in Fatah and with the Egyptian authorities to work a new border arrangement.

Mr Haniya called for the border crossing to be reopened “on the basis of national participation,” meaning that Hamas would be prepared to cede some control to President Abbas and his Fatah-led government in the West Bank. “We don’t want to be the only ones in control of these matters,” Mr Haniya said, speaking from his Gaza City office live on Hamas TV.

“Everything Haniya is saying is simply to exploit this situation to win political gains. … It is a part of the problem, not the solution,” said Ashraf Ajramim, a Cabinet minister in Mr Abbas’s government. Israel refused to comment on the developments in Gaza.

The skill of the Hamas demolition operation was clear to see along the border, although The Times could not visit the entire length of the border. Where the charges had been laid, the wall was heavily damaged. Elsewhere it appeared to be clearly cut.

The destruction of the wall prompted hundreds of thousands to cross into Egypt – and Egyptian border guards did not try to stem the tide of humanity.

Instead Rafah became a huge Middle Eastern bazaar. Thousands of people were herding back cows, sheep and even camels from Egypt into the Gaza strip. Others brought back motorbikes while many women lugged back cans of olive oil and men could be seen weighed down with jerry-cans full of fuel.

Moneychangers flocked to the border, offering Egyptian pounds and American dollars for the Gazans’ Israeli shekels. The shops soon began to run out, however, and those returning were complaining of sky-rocketing prices.

Instead, many people jumped into taxis – or even on the roofs of taxis – to take themselves to El Arish, 45km away, the nearest town with shops.

In no-man’s land, along the stretch that the Israelis used to call Philadelphia Road before their disengagement in 2005, Hamas gunmen raced along in pick-up trucks flying the group’s green flag. Egyptian riot police waited by the gates of the old border crossing, leaning with nonchalance against their riot shields.

Among those returning were Osama Hassan, 25, who went shopping with his 17-year-old fiancee Sarah for their wedding essentials. He bought a special mattress for his injured back; she brought kitchen supplies.

“I’m Fatah, but today, I wish I could see (Hamas prime minister Ismail) Haniya and kiss his forehead, because without the gunmen doing this, we would have been stuck in the Gaza Strip,” he said.

Egyptian shopkeepers swiftly raised prices of milk, taxi rides and cigarettes, but that did not deter the Gazans, for many of whom it was their first trip out of the territory.

Some staggered back into Gaza carrying televisions, and others sported brand-new mobile phones. In Gaza City, prices of cigarettes – which had skyrocketed during the total blockade of the past week – fell by 70 per cent in a few hours.

Rami al-Shawwa, a 23-year old falafel vendor, said he planned to head to Egypt in the afternoon, after his brothers returned from there. He was going to buy waterpipe tobacco and just “smell some new air”.

“We have been living in darkness for days, and closure before,” he said, adding that he is not concerned about getting stuck in Egypt. “For my 23 years in Gaza, a year in Egypt will make up for it.”

Misr Digital Images Forces Egyptian Authorities To Investigate Human Rights Abuse

Wael Abbas’ website, Misr Digital has posted stills from a video that shows a suspected Egyptian Police Officer slapping a woman around and forcing her to strip.

This is only audio, the visual is a still image only, but you can get the gist of what is going on from the audio.

It is good to see that Wael was not deterred by YouTube and Yahoo!’s censorship…

CAIRO, Egypt —  Egyptian authorities have opened an investigation into a video clip uncovered by an anti-torture activist that allegedly shows a police officer slapping a woman and forcing her to strip, a security official said Saturday.

Egypt, where human rights groups say police abuse is pervasive, has seen a series of investigations of police prompted by cell-phone videos showing torture and abuse of suspects.

The circumstances of the latest clip are unknown. It shows a woman in blue jeans and a shirt in what appears to be a bedroom, while a man with a gun tucked in his belt — purported to be a police officer — slaps her repeatedly across the face and orders her to take off her clothes.

The sobbing woman takes off her top and brassiere, begging the man not to force her to walk outside. She tries to cover her face with hands, but the man orders her to take her hands down so he can slap her on the face. Other young men appeared also in front of the camera. None of those appearing in the video are identified and it is not clear where it was filmed.

The video was first uncovered by blogger activist Wael Abbas, whose Web site Misr Digital has posted numerous videos of police torture. Abbas said on his site that he received the video in an anonymous e-mail.

Mohsen el-Bahnasi, head of human rights center for Legal Assistance, then filed a lawsuit to the general prosecutor calling for investigation to determine who was in the clip and whether it showed a policeman.

Prosecutors began their investigation on Thursday, a security official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case.

Abbas said on his Web site that the e-mailer who sent him the clip claimed that the man who appears in it was a police officer, but Abbas said it was not confirmed whether that is accurate.

Abbas has posted previous video clips showing police brutality and torture of people in police stations, including a high profile case of a video that showed police officers sodomizing a minibus driver with a stick. The officers were sentenced to three years in prison in October.

From Wael’s website, these are pictures of the actors and the victim. He is reaching out for anyone who knows them to identify them…

Iran and Hezbollah Not Islamic Enough

Al Zawahiri’s rant… Get this, Iran is an ally of the US … He sounds desparate…

Now his call is to Hamas, who from the sounds of the drum is getting ready to get their ass kicked…

The undertone of the interview is the creation of a Muslim nation than encompasses the world to bring back the Caliphate…

But no, the liberal media will tell you it is because of the oppression the US puts on Muslim countries…

This interview really shows what the root cause of Islamic terrorism is.

Al-Zawahiri in Two Recent Messages: ‘Iran Stabbed a Knife into the Back of the Islamic Nation;’ Urges Hamas to Declare Commitment to Restoring the Caliphate

On December 16, 2007, the Islamist website http://www.ek-ls.org, which is hosted by NOC4HOSTS Inc., in Tampa, FL, USA, posted a video of an interview with Al-Qaeda deputy Ayman Al-Zawahiri. The 100-minute interview, which aired during the month of Dhu Al-Qa’da, 1428 (November 11-December 10, 2007) and which was produced by Al-Qaeda’s media company Al-Sahab, was subtitled in English, and included film footage to emphasize Al-Zawahiri’s statements. Most of the interview focused on Iran and on the current situation in the Iraqi jihad.

On December 14, 2007, the Islamist website Al-Hesbah, which is also hosted by NOC4Hosts Inc. in Tampa, FL, posted the audio of an address by Al-Zawahiri titled “The Treason… of Annapolis.” In the recording, which was also produced by Al-Sahab, Al-Zawahiri rebukes Hamas for attempting to renew the political dialogue with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud ‘Abbas despite ‘Abbas’ participation in the Annapolis conference, which Hamas had criticized. Al-Zawahiri then called on Hamas to reject any political negotiation over the future of Palestine, and to declare its commitment to waging jihad until all Islamic lands – from Chechnya to Andalusia (Spain) – are liberated and subjugated to Islamic rule and until the Caliphate is restored.

Also in the recording, Al-Zawahiri criticized imprisoned jihadist sheikhs [1] who had renounced jihad against the West and against Arab regimes, and denounced them for their condemnation of mujahideen such as Osama bin Laden. Finally, he urged Muslims in general and the Egyptians in particular to prevent Egypt from becoming “a support base for the Crusader campaign against the Muslims.”

The following are excerpts and main points from the December 17 video [2] and from the December 14 audio recording. [3]

December 17, 2007 Video: “Iran Stabbed a Knife into the Back of the Islamic Nation”

Al-Zawahiri dismissed the possibility of Iran-Al-Qaeda cooperation against their common enemy, the U.S. He said that in the past, the emphasis had been on jointly fighting the Zionists-Crusader alliance against the Muslim ummah, but that Iran had surprised Al-Qaeda by collaborating with the U.S. in its invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, and had even come to an agreement with the Americans before they entered Iraq, over the division of that country.

He added that likewise, the Shi’ite militias that were trained, funded, and armed by Iran throughout the years had been integrated into the Iraqi security apparatuses, and had become, and still remained, the talons of the Crusader occupier in his war against the Muslims in Iraq.

Al-Zawahiri said that although Iran repeated and reiterated slogans of “Death to America” and “Death to Israel,” not a single fatwa had been issued by any Shi’ite authority, either in Iran or outside it, calling for jihad against the Americans in Iraq and in Afghanistan. He said that moreover, [Iranian Expediency Council chairman and No. 2 man in the Iranian regime] Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani had expressed respect for the wishes of the Iraqis who were collaborating with Iran that the American forces will remain in Iraq.

Al-Zawahiri also accused Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah of not representing the obligation to personal jihad for liberating the Muslim lands, but rather for representing a narrow, fanatical nationalist perception that is unknown to Islam.

He also dismissed the possibility that Al-Qaeda would aid Iran in the event of a U.S. attack on it, saying, “Iran has stabbed a knife into the back of the Islamic nation, and the traces of this stabbing will remain in the Muslim memory for a long time to come.” He wondered how Iran could collaborate with the Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan and at the same time threaten the U.S. with an extremely harsh reaction if it were to attack it, asking, “Do they [the Iranians] think that Tehran is more important than Karbala and Najaf?” because they did not lift a finger “when the American cannon struck the tomb of the imam [holy to Shi’ites] at Najaf.”

The Jihad Fighters’ Strength is on the Rise, While the Americans are Weakening – Their Exit from Iraq is Only a Matter of Time

Al-Zawahiri called “the rise of the avant-garde of the mujahideen of the Islamic nation,” the most important development in the Islamic world, saying that it had “become a fact in the world as a result of the growing Islamic awakening” across the Muslim world. He said that Iraq was the most important jihad front today, and that the jihad fighters’ strength was on the rise while the Americans were weakening, and added that their exit from Iraq was only a matter of time – and proof of this is was U.K.’s decision to flee.

Al-Zawahiri called on the jihad fighters to fight the Iraqi government and security apparatuses, which he termed murtadoun (i.e. those who renounce their religion). With regard to the Iraqi tribes’ collaboration with the Americans, he stated that these tribes were mere riffraff that the Americans had bought and paid for in order to sow civil war among the Muslims, and stressed that the honorable tribes supported jihad and that many of their sons were fighting in its ranks. He called on the tribes to purge themselves of this riffraff, and threatened that their day would come; the Americans would soon leave and would not be able to protect them forever.

Al-Zawahiri noted that there was now nothing called Al-Qaeda in Iraq, since the Al-Qaeda organization in Iraq would be merging with the other jihad groups in the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI), which has become a shari’a Imara (a shari’a-based Imara, i.e. under an Amir) and had received a vow of allegiance from most of the jihad fighters and tribes in Iraq. He rejected accusations that the ISI was killing innocent people, and claimed that in any case, when Muslims fought with the enemy against jihad fighters it was a very grave crime.

Al-Zawahiri accused the global media of manipulating Osama bin Laden’s most recent recording, by omitting its most important parts and by misinterpreting bin Laden’s statements. Al-Zawahiri said that bin Laden’s criticism was not directed against the ISI alone, but against all jihad fighters in Iraq, and that the jihad had shattered the monopoly held by the government and media that pretended to be independent, such as the BBC, and that the jihad was today directing “the most important media battle against the Crusader-Zionist enemy” and exposing the world to facts to which it had not previously been exposed. He added that the jihad had triumphed in this ideological battle just as it had triumphed in the battle over the Internet websites.

December 14, 2007 Audio: “The Goal of the Annapolis Conference… Was to Make Palestine Jewish”

“The goal of the Annapolis conference… was to make Palestine Jewish. The Crusader emperor of Washington managed to get 16 Arab states to participate in the opening [session] of the conference… [thus setting them up] as false witnesses to his new deal… for selling Palestine… In order to complete the Crusader deception, America prepared [a document] setting out in detail the understandings reached at the Annapolis conference, which is to be submitted the [U.N.] Security Council [as a draft motion]. [The goal is] to obtain a Security Council resolution which will be imposed on the Islamic ummah in Palestine…

“I am amazed… at the [Hamas] politicians who surrendered four-fifths of Palestine and authorized Mahmoud ‘Abbas to negotiate on the Palestinians’ behalf in the palaces of Mecca, but who then [began to] complain… and to denounce the [Annapolis] conference, after they saw with their own eyes the catastrophe into which ‘brother’ Mahmoud ‘Abbas had led them.”

“Declare… That You Strive to Establish the Caliphate”

“[Surprisingly,] having condemned the [Annapolis] conference, [Hamas is still referring to] Mahmoud ‘Abbas as ‘brother President,’ still urging [him] to [resume] talks [with the Hamas leadership], and still continuing to recognize his legitimacy. [Hamas,] you should return to your pure doctrine, which rejected [all] concessions, political maneuvers, and diplomatic deceptions that bring [only] destruction upon [Islam] and the world. I call upon you to declare, in the clearest possible manner, that you… aspire to implement shari’a, that you reject the rule of the masses and any other rule except that of the Koran and the Sunna, that you strive to establish the Caliphate, that you will fight until the word of Allah [reigns] supreme… that you aspire to liberate every inch of Islamic land from Andalusia to Chechnya, and that you will join efforts with the rest of the mujahideen… [in the struggle against] the Crusader-Zionist enemy…”

Renounce Any International Agreement to Sell Palestine

“I call upon you to renounce the Mecca Accord, and any [other] international agreement which [is designed] to sell Palestine. [Declare] that you reject and renounce every [decision] which was prescribed by… the [U.N. in an attempt to] annihilate Palestine and make it Jewish. I call upon you to announce that you are no longer a national resistance movement, but an Islamic jihad movement which transcends national solidarity and believes in brotherhood rooted in Islam… I call upon you to extend your hand in friendship… to all the Muslim mujahideen… [and to declare] that the mujahideen everywhere are closer to you, and more loyal and faithful [in your eyes], than Mahmoud ‘Abbas and Muhammad Dahlan…”

“Is [Annapolis Not] One of Those Deals [Designed] to Destroy Palestine?”

“As for those [imprisoned jihadi sheikhs] who have renounced [their jihadi views]… recognized [Egyptian President] Hosni Mubarak as a [legitimate] guardian of Muslim affairs… denounced the [9/11] attacks against the U.S., and expressed amazement at the Taliban’s refusal to hand over Osama bin Laden… I say to [them]: ‘What do you say about Annapolis? Is it [not] one of the deals [designed] to destroy Palestine – [dreamt up] by your ruler [Mubarak], and by his son [Gamal Mubarak], the new star rising in the sky of submission to the Americans? Is it [not merely another] step in the Crusader-Zionist plan to control the Muslim countries, and one more successful [step] on the road that your ‘martyr’ Sadat began?'”

“How Did You Allow Egypt to Become a Support Base for the Crusader Campaign Against the Muslims?”

“I say to the Islamic ummah in Egypt: What is your role in resisting the aggression against Islam and the Muslims? How did you allow Egypt to become a support base for the Crusader campaign against the Muslims…? Resist the Jewish and Crusader campaign, and beware the poison of weakness and submissiveness that the collaborating regimes are attempting to spread among you. [They are doing this] by means of the statements by those [imprisoned sheikhs] who renounced [their jihadi views] and capitulated [to the demands of the West]… calling upon us to unite behind Hosni Mubarak in order to ‘oppose’ Israel.

“I ask [those sheikhs]: ‘Where should we unite behind Mubarak – in Oslo, in Sharm Al-Sheikh, or in Annapolis? And on what should we agree with him – about training thousands of Palestinian Authority policemen in order to defeat the Hamas government? About the truckloads of weapons that he is providing to Mahmoud ‘Abbas and Muhammad Dahlan?'”
